Unchained At Last takes a holistic approach to the problem of arranged/forced marriage, providing direct services to help women and girls leave or resist arranged/forced marriages and rebuild their lives, while also promoting social change – through advocacy and education – to end coercive marriages in the U.S.
Unchained never charges for any of its services.
Unchained provides free legal representation for clients’ divorce, child-custody, immigration, domestic violence and other legal proceedings.
Unchained provides free psychotherapy, career counseling, financial coaching and other services to help women and girls become emotionally and financially independent. Unchained also supports women and girls in myriad other ways, including rides to doctors’ visits, court accompaniment and help paying for emergency needs.
Unchained matches women with “mentors” from a similar background who offer emotional support.
Unchained works to prevent women from becoming trapped in arranged marriages by advocating for relevant legislation.
Unchained trains key groups — such as judges, law enforcement personnel and service providers — about arranged/forced marriage, and educates the public about coercive marriage in the U.S.
