Our Programs
Unchained At Last offers these programs to help women leave arranged marriages and to prevent them from getting trapped in such marriages:
LEGAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
Unchained provides women with a pro bono matrimonial attorney who can handle the complexities involved in ending arranged marriages. The attorney fights to get women the best possible financial and child-custody arrangements.
SOCIAL SERVICES PROGRAM
Unchained helps women identify and obtain the other help they need as they reinvent their lives, such as shelter, employment and psychotherapy.
MENTORING PROGRAM
Unchained pairs each woman with a “mentor” who has left her own arranged marriage and who offers support and advice.
ADVOCACY AND AWARENESS PROGRAM
Unchained raises awareness about the problems involved in leaving an arranged marriage, and Unchained works to prevent women from becoming trapped in arranged marriages by advocating for changes to existing laws. Such laws include those surrounding minimum-marriage age and those regarding religious arbitration panels that oversee marriages and divorces and whose rulings are enforceable in civil court.
