Linda Steiner

headshot linda steinerLinda is a professor of journalism at the University of Maryland. She is author, co-author, or editor of seven books, has published over 100 book chapters and refereed journal articles, most of them having to do with gender issues and the media, and is the current editor of Journalism & Communication Monographs. Linda is past president of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication, an international organization for scholars doing research and teaching in media issues. At Maryland she also serves on the University Senate, the President’s Commission on Women’s Issues, and is the faculty adviser to Project HEAL, which addresses healthy eating and healthy body perceptions, including by subsidizing counseling for students with eating disorders.

Before going to Maryland, Linda was a professor and department chair of the Department of Journalism and Mass Media at Rutgers University.

Linda earned her Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and her B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania.
